Recommended prerequisites

PED128, PED148, PED149 and PED150, or a minimum of 30 ECTS credits of equivalent single standing courses in pedagogy.

Course contents

In a society where changes occur at an increasingly rapid pace and the demand for effectivity seems to be constant, there is a demand for leadership that can contribute to experience sharing and continuous learning. Consequently, the course emphasises that humans are the organisation’s most important resource, and that leadership among other things is about developing this resource through facilitation for knowledge development and feedback that motivates.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course the student shall be able to:

  • Assess and apply central leadership theories related to learning organisations

  • Describe central strategies for change and adjustment in organisations

  • Describe and discuss how to prepare for experience sharing, development and learning in an organisation

  • Reflect on the administration of employees as resources

  • Apply knowledge and tools that can contribute to solving conflicts in organizations

  • Discuss how the organisation culture can be of help for mapping and further development of the organization culture

Examination requirements

Three assignments and participation in a compulsory session. Further information will be given in the semester plan and posted on Canvas when the semester starts.

Teaching methods

A combination of lectures, case studies, group work and plenary summary. Basis groups will be formed. There will be an emphasis on the use of the students’ experiences by relating theory to practice.

The workload is estimated at 400 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
