Course contents
Instruction addresses the topics of didactic and ethical theories as well as research on professional knowledge and professional development. Special focus will be placed on the role of professionalism in general and educational professionalism in particular. The latter will be highlighted from a didactic perspective.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

understand and use the concepts profession, professionalism, professional knowledge and professional ethics as well as discussion the connections between them

use didactic thinking in order to understand how educators reflect upon the connection between professional theory and practice

reflect upon and assess questions related to responsibility, respect, openness and trust in individual and collaborative professional practice

reflect upon and explain his/her own personal conditions and the impact these have in pedagogical contexts related to professional practice

reflect critically on professions and professionalism in various contexts

One group assignment. Further information in the semester plan which will be available when the semester starts.
Teaching methods
Lectures, seminar activity and group work.
The workload is estimated to about 270 hours.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
