Course contents

The central theme of the course is how innovative and entrepreneurial activities may be organized and managed in different contexts. The course introduces terms and theories related to entrepreneurship and innovation management, discusses different models for entrepreneurial processes and innovation processes, and discusses what internal and external resources and capabilities that are needed to succeed with different types of innovation (such as product innovation, service innovation, responsible innovation and digital innovation) and entrepreneurship. The course provides insight on how managers can work strategically with innovation and entrepreneurship.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will:

  • have detailed knowledge of the most central theories related to innovation management and entrepreneurship

  • be able to characterize, describe and organize innovation processes and entrepreneurial processes

  • be able to identify strategic innovation resources and capabilities that are relevant for businesses and start-ups

  • have insight into challenges related to the development of innovation strategies for established businesses and start-ups

  • be able to participate in strategic discussions on how to organize innovation activities in established businesses and start-ups.

Teaching methods

Lectures, group discussions and work with an individual paper under supervision. Further information will be provided in Canvas.The course has an expected workload of 200 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

1 individual paper counting 100%.
