Introduction to the theory of leadership and team development. Traits and motivation concerning leadership and followership. Leadership behavior and leadership styles. Influencing tactics of a leader. How to motivate and coach team members. Development of creativity and innovation. Ethical behavior in the leadership role and theory about communication and conflict resolution skills in team. How effective teams can be established. The research process from problem to publication. Formulation of problem. Literature search strategies. Development of quantitative research designs. Presentation techniques. Report writing and publication guidelines.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the students should:
- be able to identify different challenges concerning leadership in cross-cultural teams
- know how to establish well-functioning teams and also be able to see their own personality and problem solving skills and consequences for team effectiveness
- be able to structure teamwork and solve personal conflicts within the team
- be capable of writing their own analysis of team development and team process
- be able to identify, describe and evaluate research problems in ICT
- be able to identify relevant literature and apply theoretical models to the identified research problems

Seminar course including lectures, exercises and group work. Compulsory assignments.

One group assignment on the topic communication and cooperation that counts 66 % of the final grade. The groups are normally given joint grades. One group assignment on research methods that counts 34 % of the final grade. The groups are normally given joint grades. Details on the assignments will be given at semester start in the LMS.
