All the compulsory courses in the bachelor's programme in Tourism Management.

Course contents

The bachelors thesis is a major independent written work on a chosen theme. Throughout the process the students get the opportunity to specialise in a relevant subject and/or to apply theoretical knowledge on practical problems. The thesis should preferably be carried out in groups of 2-3 students. The students are responsible for defining the research question, scheduling the process, choosing research methods to obtain the necessary data as well as analyze the data. The task must meet academic requirements regarding form of presentation and content.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • carry out an independent scientific project.

  • collect and analyze information.

  • apply theoretical approaches.

  • produce results in report form.

Compulsory work requirement must be approved. More information in Canvas in the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

Seminars and supervision. Estimated workload is about 405 hours per student. Supervision will be given throughout the semester.

Assessment methods and criteria

The bachelors thesis is conducted in groups of 2-3 students. The grade is for the entire group. Letter grades.

A new, or revised, version of the bachelors thesis may be submitted one time, if it was given a fail. If the thesis has been given a passing grade it will not be possible to hand in a new or revised version in the same study program.
