Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student shall

Knowledge

  • have advanced knowledge about the thematic area, including scientific theory and method

  • have the ability to use this knowledge independently on new fields within the thematic area and in other scientific contexts

Skills

  • be able to work independently with theories, methods and interpretations within the thematic area, both practically and theoretically

  • be able to assess and criticize sources, theories, methods and interpretations within the thematic field

General competence

  • be able to use knowledge and skills when meeting relevant scientific challenges and processes of change in society

  • be able to discuss scientific problems, analyses and conclusions within the thematic field, both with specialists and with the public in general

 

Examination requirements

The practice perid or an alternative task must be completed and passed. This will be specified at the start of the semester.

 

Teaching methods

Seminars. A 2-week practice period where the students work with language and/or literature. All students must make a presentation based on an individual assignment during the course of the semester. The workload is estaimated to about 400 hours.

 

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

An oral examination. Graded assessment. The evaluation will emphasis on professional content and communicative skills. When it comes to assessment of language, the students’ linguistic background will be taken into account.
