NO-152 Norwegian didactics, part 1 (for level 8-13)

Course contents

The Bachelor's thesis is an independent research project where the students are supposed to form and answer an academic problem. The problem should be related to a relevant subject within the Nordic studies. The subjects where supervision is given may vary from year to year.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students should

  • be able to form and explore an academic problem

  • have deep knowledge of the chosen topic

  • have insight into fundamental methodological requirements within this type of research and development work

  • be able to find and assess current research literature and use it in order to illustrate the chosen topic

  • be able to reflect upon and relate to questions related to research ethics

  • be able to master genre requirements of academic writing, including critical and fair use of literary sources

Examination requirements

The compulsory supervision requirement of 2 meetings must be met.

Teaching methods

Individual work under supervision, individually or in groups/seminars. Compulsory supervision: 2 meetings.

The workload is estimated to about 270 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written, individual bachelor's thesis, about 7-8000 words. Graded assessment.
