Prerequisites
Norwegian 2 or 60 credits from Teachers education or 45 ECTS credits in Nordic language and literature.
Course contents
A subject study within Nordic linguistics. The topic may vary from year to year but the basis of the course will be modern linguistic research. The focus is on Nordic languages, with emphasis on for example language systems, speech and writing, variation, differences and similarities, history of language, sociology of language and sociolinguistics, understanding of neighbouring languages and neighbouring languages at school.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate deeper insight into, and detailed knowledge of, one or several topics within Nordic linguistics that will complement the more general knowledge acquired at a lower lever of study. They should have developed insights into a theoretical framework, they should be able to reflect upon and discuss it, and they should be able to use their theoretical knowledge in an analytical way.
Examination requirements
An approved oral presentation, or equivalent assignment. More informasjon is given at the beginning of the course.
Teaching methods
Lectures and group work. The workload is estimated to about 400 hours.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
