Course contents

Norwegian for Lower Secondary School Level is based on Norwegian for Upper Primary School Level, and prepares for teaching Norwegian at level 5-10 with main focus on lower secondary level. The course gives a historic overview and a more extensive knowledge about essential linguistic and literary topics, a deeper insight into current didactic questions and a broader basis for working with formative assessment and adapted Norwegian teaching for all pupils. Through the work with language and texts, the students will further develop their own language skills, text competence and teaching skills.

Work with the R&D project provides teaching of relevant didactic research for level 5-10. The paper is an independent and research based written work where the student formulates and answers questions related to a chosen problem. The problem is to be related to and orientated to the practice. The project gives a complete and coherent presentation of and reflection on essential questions related to professional practice.

The subject in the practice placement

Through the course the students will acquire a solid academic basis which will enable them to plan, implement and assess teaching Norwegian on level 5-10 in primary school.
