Course contents
This course gives the students the opportunity to further develop their skills as performing musicians, and the repertoire will be decided in close cooperation with the instrumental/vocal teacher. The repertoire can also include improvisation, the student¿s own compositions, re-mixes or arrangements.
The main focus of Individual performance and interpretation II is musical performance, including principal instrument classes, interpretation classes, music production and musical presentation. The course focuses on individuality, artistic personality and musical identity, and the aim is to give the student advanced knowledge of of the music field. The course must be seen in relation to MUR401 Individual performance and interpretation I, MUR503 Individual performance and interpretation III and MUR504 Individual performance and interpretation IV.
The specialisation Popular Music Performance emphasises individual musical expression and musical presentation.
The specialisation Electronic Music focuses on composing/songwriting and live usage of music technology. Performance practice is a key element, with live concerts, music production and creative studio work.
The specialisation World Music focuses on musical presentation, artistic personality and individual musical expression.
The specialisation Songwriting focuses on production and development of sound, in addition to lectures.

Examination requirements
Mandatory attendance is a premise. All work assignments must be passed before the final examination can take place. An overview of the workload will be posted on Canvas at the start of the semester.
Teaching methods
In the specialisations Popular Music Performance, World Music and Songwriting, tuition will be given through individual instruction on the student's principal instrument and in interpretation classes. Both 1st year and 2nd year students participate together in interpretation classes. Additionally, seminars will be arranged for the students taking the World Music specialization.
In the specialisation Electronic Music, the supervision of performance, composition, programming or studio work will be given individually and in groups, depending on what is most relevant for the students Master's thesis and repertoire.
Attendance is mandatory.
The expected workload for the student is 27 hours per credit.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
Individual portfolio assessment consisting of differing studio productions together with a short paper.
Assessed on the basis of pass/fail.
