Main instrument (20 credits)
The course includes:

Development of individuality

Various communication techniques

Introduction to various methods of song writing

Pitching songs to music publishing/media

Entrepreneurship and career planning

Improvisation

Development of instrumental/vocal skills

Development of style understanding and repertoire

Development of a personal expression

Knowledge of relevant methodology and development of their own working practices

The harmonic, melodic and rhythmic foundation for different types of improvisational music

Transcribe

Accompaniment and arranging for separate instrument

Rehearse, reproducing recorded music and aural playing

Recording practices, technological and arrangement aspects of recording music

Interaction and communication in various formats

Interpretation and concerts
Learning outcomes
The student will:
-
be familiar with different styles in various songwriter and artist traditions

have acquired good improvisational skills

be able to apply various methods for effective and targeted rehearsal of music
-
have a broad and reflective basis to recognize and understand the various forms of musical work in relation to song writing and artist profession
-
be able to apply style knowledge related to its main instrument in an ensemble situation within the popular music tradition
Examination requirements
Approved the participation of at least 3 concerts / artistic projects during the academic year.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria

A skill test at main instrument

A concert of 10-15 minutes
Both parts must be passed in order to pass the exam.
