Learning outcomes

The student will:

  • be able to make qualified and reflected artistic choices

  • master the relevant composing- and arranging techniques

  • integrate various form principles

  • implement compositional projects academic and practical

  • organize in relation to stylistic role models

  • be able to work independently with music composed and arranged for various formats such as film, theatre, installation, concert and dance

  • have knowledge of the application of the various instruments within the tradition

  • could lead musical interaction and interdisciplinary cooperation in the role of composer and performer

  • be able to discuss artistic challenges and choices in an analytical way

Examination requirements

Passed compulsory assignments. Information on how many assignments will be made available in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

Teaching takes place in groups, seminars and as individual counselling. There is obligatory instruction in the subject. Expected scope of work for the average student is 27 hours per credit.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

An individual practical project with a submission of the audio product, or performance, of the product. The selected work will be delivered on CD/DVD. Minimum length of the project is 20 minutes. The project must be approved by the teacher before work can begin.
