Course contents

The course includes:

  • work with time/groove understanding and coordination of various rhythm patterns

  • prima vista singing - one part and in combination with other melodic, rhythmic harmonic voice

  • transcribe

Learning outcomes

The student will:

  • translate music symbols to sound and be able to explain and reproduce musical examples, both orally and in writing

  • reproduce rhythmic both orally and in writing

  • be able to apply different theoretical disciplines and expression within popular music

  • have a broad understanding of various shapes and form concepts in popular music

Examination requirements

  • Approved attendance to teaching

  • Passed semester test

Teaching methods

The course is taught in groups. Attendance is obligatory for teaching.

Expected scope of work for the average student is 27 hours per credit.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
