Course contents

The course consists of the following sub-themes:

  • Introduction to the relevant music technological programs and plugins

  • Introduction to audio recording and editing

  • Sound design for film/TV/multimedia

  • Live sampling

  • Review of the recording studio

  • Practical work with PA and live mixing

Learning outcomes

The student will:

  • be able to apply basic music technology

  • be able to do a simple music production using analogue and digital recordings

  • have knowledge about the use of music technological effects in relation to their own main instrument and ensemble activities

  • have a critical awareness of the use of music technology

Examination requirements

Information on compulsory assignment will be given trough Canvas at the beginning of the semester.

Teaching methods

Teaching takes place as group instruction, seminars and tutorials. Attendance is obligatory for teaching. Expected scope of work for the average student is 27 hours per credit.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

A practical audio task relative to the curriculum, with a written report describing the work process.
