Course contents

Course includes planning and executing practice-based projects, as well as techniques for communication and presentation. The student will develop basic skills within different modes of working with music, thus promoting musical interaction with different target audiences based on e.g. age, functional level and cultural background.The course uses perspectives on music as a part of human everyday life as a starting point, and students will work with a repertoire that reflects the versatility of today’s music and genres. The students will also work with combining music with other forms of artistic expression. The course has three sub-divisions: The field of arts, Project development and Communication.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students shall:

  • have an overview of arts and culture institutions both of a pedagogical and producing nature

  • be able to plan, execute and assess smaller communication/presentation and cooperation projects for different target audiences.

  • have a good command of a musical repertoire for different age and audience groups, as well as basic skills for musical communication/presentation

  • be able to combine music with other forms of expression within different artistic presentations

Examination requirements

  • Recognized compulsory attendance for the lessons

  • 2 recognized reports from completed projects

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria

  • Project of musical communication/presentation performed in groups with a shared oral presentation. Group assessment. Weighting: 40%.

  • One individual written reflection paper. 7 days deadline. Weighting: 60%.

Assessment: Graded A-F
