The course is connected to the following study programs

Teaching language

English

Recommended prerequisites

DAT101 Introduction to programming and 3D Modelling and animation.

Course contents

The students will learn how to work with a state of the art game engine. During the course they will as a result produce an interactive visualization project. They will also be given an introduction to a current CAD system and learn some principles and techniques for transferring 3D models between different systems. The course will also cover visualization principles, camera matching, lighting, texturing, rendering and post-Production.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the students should be able to:

  • produce an interactive visualization of a product in a game engine.
  • define and modify models, materials, interaction, object control, lightning and light maps in the chosen game engine.
  • understand basic principles and functions in modern CAD systems.
  • use a CAD system to create and adapt models suitable for transferal to visualization programs.
  • use a visualization program to create visualizations of different realism levels
  • create interactive visualizations by importing models, and develop scripts, in a game engine.
  • evaluate suitable levels of realism and choice of media in a visualization project.

Examination requirements

Compulsory assignments. Information about compulsory assignments will be given in Canvas at the start of the semester.
