Course contents
Static linear systems. Solution methodology. Different element types. Boundary conditions and loads. Buckling. Introduction to non-linear static analysis emphasising the effect of plasticity and contact. Use of FEM programme.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to apply the Finite element method for static linear and nonlinear structural analysis of representative mechatronic components.
Examination requirements
Mandatory project work. Project report must be passed in order to take the exam. Additional information will be given in Canvas at the start of the course.
Evaluation
Course evaluation is carried out as a midterm evaluation in accordance with standard procedure in the quality assurance system, chapter 2.1.1., unless other information is given in the beginning of the semester.
Assessment methods and criteria
4 hour individual written examination. Graded assessment.
