Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student should be able

  • exlain the challenges in system architecture and programming of major industrial IT systems for process and oil-and-gas industry

  • define and apply a flowchart and state machines for programming large control systems

  • perform a lab-based hardware-in-the-loop test of a control system

  • program a PLC based on IEC61131-3

  • choose between several alternative fieldbus depending on application

  • ensure and verify the data communicated

  • program an industrial robot and implement practical experience in lab

  • analyze and create a 3D visualization and simulation of an industrial robot system

Examination requirements

Compulsory exercises and lab assignments. Information about this will be posted on Canvas at the start of the semester.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
