Course contents

The resultant of forces and moments, equilibrium equations, the center of mass, friction, free-body-diagrams, energy considerations, normal and shear stresses in beams, torsion of profiles with closed cross sections, combined load effects, deflection of beams.

 

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the students

  • can carry out static analysis for the determination of forces and moments in beams and mechanical systems

  • are able to draw and understand the free-body diagrams

  • can carry out a kinematic analysis of mechanisms in 2D

  • can carry out a kinetic analysis for bodies and mechanisms in 2D

  • have skills in the use of stress analysis for lineart elastic materials lineart

  • have skills in the use of deformation analysis lineart elastic materials

 

Examination requirements

Satisfactory submission of compulsory exercises.
