Course contents

Theory of sequences and series, curves, surfaces, vector valued functions, multiple integrals, Green's theorem, Stokes theorem and the Divergence theorem. Applications.

Learning outcomes

The student is able to

  • decide whether a series of numbers converges or diverges and to find the convergence interval for power series

  • explain and apply the concepts gradient, parametrized curve and -surface and conic section

  • perform line-, double-, triple- and surface integration and apply these techniques to find arc length, area, volume and work

  • use digital tools in order to visualize surfaces and curves in space as well as to describe fundamental results and how terms are related

  • use polar-, cylindric- and spheric coordinates and to substitute in multiple integrals

  • apply Green's theorem, Stokes' theorem and the Divergence theorem

Examination requirements

Required assignments must be approved, see Canvas for more information.

For students in teacher education must also two weeks of practice be approved. Students who are not in teacher education, must get one more compulsory assignement approved than students in teacher education.

Teaching methods

Lectures, work in small groups and compulsory assignemets. Compulsory practice for students at the Advanced Teacher Education. The course has an expected workload of around 400 hours.
