The course is connected to the following study programs

  • Bachelor's Programme in Mathematics
  • Advanced Teacher Education level 8-13, 5-year Master's Programme
  • Mathematics, 1-year Programme

Teaching language

Norwegian

Course contents

Euclidian 2-dimensional geometry, coordinate geometry, isometries and symmetry groups.

Learning outcomes

The student is able to

  • explain basic concepts and prove some theorems in Euclidian 2-dimensional geometry and analytical geometry (straight lines and planes) in 3-dimensional space

  • prove assertions about, and calculate, lengths and angles in two dimensions

  • prove assertions about vectors, the scalar product and the vector product, and apply these concepts in problem solving

  • study congruence through the concept of mapping

  • study symmetry through the concept of group

  • use knowledge in geometry to solve problems
