Course contents

Work on gender equality involves initiatives that affect men's and women's participation in various arenas: family life, work life, and place in society in general. Gender equality can have different consequences in different areas. This course focuses particularly on the relationship between family life and work life.

Learning outcomes

The students will

- be well familiarized with the historical background of today's work on gender equality, as it is presented in the public debate and in literature and film

- be able to identify various discourses in the equality debate

- be familiar with how equality work in Norway is organized, as well as policies and laws in the field

Examination requirements

Participation in groups, and presentation of its work.

Teaching methods

Teaching is given in the form of lectures, seminars and tutorials. Student participation is emphasized.
