Course contents

The bachelor¿s thesis has a practical and a theoretical part. In addition to film production in groups, the student will write a theoretical thesis of 20-30 pages. In connection with the thesis the students choose their own syllabus of approximately 500 pages.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course the students shall

  • Have acquired the competence required to realize a film production of high technical and aesthetic standards

  • Have the ability to formulate and discuss an academic problem

  • Have the ability to reflect critically and systematically on the chosen problem

  • Master the demands related to genre and other technical writing skills that are expected in connection with academic writing

Examination requirements

The individual syllabus and a draft for the problem must be approved by the teacher before the writing starts. The student must have attended the mandatory supervision (minimum 4 sessions).

Teaching methods

The teaching methods imply initial seminars focusing on the production process as well as technical writing, reference practice and methodology. The problem chosen for the theoretical part has to be approved by the teacher. The theoretical part must be written individually. Supervision will be offered in connection with both the practical and the theoretical part, either in groups or individually. There will be two mandatory supervision sessions for each part.

The workload is estimated to 540 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

An individual theoretical thesis (counts 60%)

Graded assessment.
