Course contents

Latin was Western Europe's most prominent scientific and literary language from ancient times until the 1600s. The course will start with the classical ancient Latin tradition as this laid the foundation for middle-age and renaissance Latin. The course will thus be a foundation for further studies of Latin literature of any time period. It will also be a useful door to anyone who wants to learn more about European history and culture from ancient times to the renaissance.

Because Latin is an important basis of medical and legal terminology, as well as for many foreign and borrowed words in general, the course will also be very valuable for students of subjects other than humanities.
