Course contents

Rhetorical theory is presented and discussed in relation to texts from different genres and situations of use. Rhetoric is seen both in historical and contemporary perspectives and is related to the current developments within the field of media and communication.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student should

  • have insight into the field of rhetoric and the kinds of rhetorical forms that are highlighted by different media and communication situations.

  • are able to analyze and evaluate rhetorical communication

  • are able to design rhetorical projects for different medial and social contexts.

Examination requirements

Approved oral presentation. More information will be given i Canvas.

Teaching methods

The learning environment will include lectures, seminars and practical project work. The workload is estimated to about 270 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
