Course contents

Theory and practice within text and visual communication, creative writing, photo instruction and work with layout. Focus will be on the various parts, separately, and how they work together.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students should
- have knowledge about the terms of communication through text, images and layout
- be able to analyze the co-operation between verbal and visual content
- be able to exercise editorial production including writing, photo production and layout, the technical process from an idea to a finished product
- have knowledge about rhetoric, semiotics and interpretation theory and its relevance for
communication through text and image

Examination requirements

Two compulsory assignments must be passed. Instructions will be published on Canvas.

Teaching methods

Lectures, groupwork, seminar and practical project work. The workload is estimated to about 400 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria

  • Individual project assignment (counts 50%)

  • A 2-hour individual examination where the questions may be short assignments, multiple choice or similar (counts 50%)

Graded assessment.
