Prerequisites

Prerequisite requirement is that the student has passed 60 credits in arts and crafts.

Recommended prerequisites

Students should have basic knowledge of digital imaging and word processing.

Course contents

The students will work on a self-chosen project within some specified frames. These frames will be given in the assignment description, and may be linked to the choice of topic, choice of material region or the like. Emphasis is on practical creative work, but also a written report is to be made. The report shall include a reflection on the choice of methodology, documentation of their creative process, reflecting on the choices made in the process, reflection on the finished works and a description of a how an in-depth assignment can be a starting point for creative work with children / young people.
The project has an exploratory character within an arts and crafts related issue.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students should:

  • Be able to explore an art and crafts related issue that takes outset in a theme, a material, a form of expression or the like.

  • Have developed their aesthetic competency and ability to reflect upon their own creative work in the context of relevant theory

  • Be able to reflect on central research methods in the arts and be able to work systematically with an R & D project

  • Be able to discuss academic and didactic aspects in their own creative work

  • Be able to write an academic report in relation to academic standards

Examination requirements

To take the exam, the student must have

  • approved mandatory assignments. Which tasks are required will be stated in the task descriptions given at the beginning of the semester

  • Approved mandatory attendance

Assessment methods and criteria

Written report of individual R&D-project. (Counts 40% of the final grade).
Exhibition/presentation with oral presentation of R&D-project. (Counts 60% of the final grade).

Material costs and expenses for compulsory study trips and excursions can be expected.
