Prerequisites

60 credits in arts and crafts.

Recommended prerequisites

The students should have basic knowledge of digital image processing and word processing.

Course contents

In this course, students will work on practical problems that give a fruitful interplay between theoretical knowledge, professional development and reflection. The course emphasizes the exploration and use of materials in working with architecture-related tasks. ICT is used both in creative work and the dissemination and presentation of their own work. A central topic is knowledge about contemporary architecture.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will:

  • be able to discuss key aspects of contemporary architecture and see these in relation to architectural history

  • be able to analyze architecture and be able to apply this in their own work

  • be able to explore aesthetic qualities in various materials and techniques in their own creative work

  • reflect on the use of aesthetic means in their own artistic expression

  • be able to plan and implement an idea-based project with an emphasis on the creative work

  • use digital tools in creative work with architecture

  • be able to document and present a project using ICT tools

  • be able to explain important trends in contemporary architecture

  • be able to reflect on how architecture can be used to inspire children and young people in their creative work

Examination requirements

To take the exam, the student should have

  • approved mandatory assignments. Which assignments are mandatory will be stated in the task descriptions given in the beginning of a workshop period

  • approved mandatory presence

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Individual exhibition and presentation of selected works from the semester with accompanying documentation / folders.
