Norwegian or English. The course will be taught in English if exchange students are following the course.

Recommended prerequisites

IKT101-G Fundamental Software Development and IKT103-G Advanced Software Development, or the equivalent

Course contents

Basic Internet concepts, client/server service model, development of user interfaces that uses internet services, development server components that offers internet services.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the students should:

- be able to develop Internet Services on a platform (produce and consume internet services)

- have basic knowledge about the central components in Internet technology

- have knowledge and experience with central techniques like authentication and authorization, permanent storage and data transfer

- familiar with new developments in internet services

Examination requirements

Students must pass the compulsory assignments in order to take the examination. Information about the compulsory assignments will be given in Canvas by the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

Lectures, laboratory exercises and self-study. Project work in groups with supervision in the last part of the course. The exercises take place in the computer laboratory on personal or lab computers. A laboratory engineer, student assistant and/or course lecturer is present. The students work on compulsory assignments that are approved by the course lecturer or a student assistant.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Project written in groups where product, report and process count as part of the final grade. Time sheets and a logbook should be handed in together with the report. This will create the basis for the evaluation of the process. There will be a compulsory oral presentation before the grades are set. The groups are normally given joint grades. Graded assessment.
