Course contents

  • Special topics within the student¿s own field

  • Systematization and assessment of research based literature within the chosen concentration

  • The concentration¿s relevance to the research questions in the student¿s doctoral dissertation

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student will:

  • possess in-depth knowledge of his/her special topic

  • be able to critically evaluate current research work and review the status of knowledge

  • be able to discuss and combine different sources of knowledge related to his/her own research work

  • be able to make use of different sources of knowledge to develop new knowledge related to the student¿s own research

Examination requirements

  • Handed in suggestion of external examiner

  • Approved reading list

Suggestions of external examiner and reading list must be handed in to the course coordinator five weeks before the examination, at the latest.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written seven-days home examination consisting of a systematic review work of approximately nine pages. The examination text must challenge the candidate on special topics within the research field. The supervisor will formulate the examination text which will be approved by the external examiner.

 

The examination will be assessed as pass/fail.
