Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students will:

  • be familiar with the diversity of factors which influence public health

  • have basic knowledge of social disparity in health in Norway, as well as mental health and health related to work

  • have knowledge of the prevention of infectious diseases

  • be familiar with various arenas within public health work

  • be able to explain public health challenges in a life-cycle perspective

  • be able to account for public health work related to migration health

Examination requirements

  • Attendance requirements for field trips must be met as well as approved report.

  • Attendance requirements for the rest of the course must be met.

Teaching methods

Literature studies, lectures, group work and compulsory field trips.

Attendance is compulsory for parts of the course. See the semester plan.

Estimated student workload is approx. 270 hours.

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
