The course will normally be taught in Norwegian.Recommended prerequisites
FYS128 Physics and MA178 Mathematics 1 or similar.
Course contents
Basic introduction to the structure and working principles of photovoltaic and thermal solar energy systems. Dimensioning and planning of such systems. Particular attention will be paid to building integrated solutions. Economic analysis of solar energy systems will also be treated.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion, the student should:

be able to explain the working principles of solar energy systems

know how to plan and dimension solar energy systems

be familiar with software for dimensioning and planning of solar energy systems

know different ways of integrating solar energy systems with buildings

be able to perform economic analyses of solar energy systems
Examination requirements
All mandatory submissions must be passed
Teaching methods
Lectures and exercises.
Updated digital tools will be used for calculations/modelling.
The workload is estimated to be 27 hours per credit for the average student.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.”
Assessment methods and criteria
3 hours individual written exam. Grading by letters.
