Course contents
Coulomb’s law, electric potential, Gauss’ law, dielectric media and capacitors, the electromagnetic forces between conductors, Ampere’s law, induction, Faraday’s law of induction and inductance. Electric and magnetic circuits.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion, the student should:

be able to carry out basic calculations within electrostatics, magnetism and induction

possess knowledge on electric and magnetic circuits

be familiar with the physical principles behind electrical machines

be able to visualize electromagnetic fields using software
Teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory experiments and exercises.
The workload is estimated to be 27 hours per credit for the average student.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Assessment methods and criteria
3 hours individual written exam. Grading by letters.
