Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the students

  • have knowledge of electrical and magnetic circuits and the physical principles for conversion of mechanical energy to electrical energy and vice versa

  • are able to account for the construction and operation of transformers and basic electrical machinery

  • are able to dimension simple systems where transformers and electrical machines are included

  • are able to describe the structure of the large electric power system and its main components

Examination requirements

Students must successfully complete the compulsory assignment(s) in order to take the examination.

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

4-hour written individual examination. Graded assessment.
