The course will normally be taught in Norwegian.Course contents
Properties. Work and heat. The 1st and 2nd law of Thermodynamics. Steady state for closed systems and control volumes. Reversibility, irreversibility and entropy. Circle Processes. The physical principles of heat engines, refrigerators and heat pumps. Heat conduction, heat radiation and convection.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should
• Understand the basic definitions and laws of thermodynamics
• be able to use the laws of thermodynamics for simple heat engineering analysis and calculations of engines and processes
Teaching methods
Lectures, exercises and mandatory assignments.
The scope of work for the average student is calculated at 27 hours per credit.
