Course contents

How the digital camera works, and how to operate it. The nature of different areas of photography. A short history of photography.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the candidate should:

  • Be familiar with the technical priciples of photography and the technology behind the digital camera.

  • Master a DSLR camera in manual mode.

  • Give a short review of the photographic history.

  • Within chosen fiels of motives be able to take pictures with a professional touch.

  • Be able to asess the technical and contentual quality of a photograph.

  • Implement a digital workflow from the picture is taken through shown on screen.

Examination requirements

Compulsory assignments must be passed in order to take the examination. Information about compulsory assignments will be given in the LMS at the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

Lectures and field and studio work. Compulsory assignments.

Expected student workload in the course is approximately 135 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Individual portfolio assessment. Graded assessment. Information about the content of the portfolio will be given in the LMS at the start of the semster.
