Prerequisites
In order to start the project, students must have passed the theoretical courses BYG407 Welding Processes and Equipment, BYG408 Materials and their Behavior during Welding and BYG409 Construction and Design, and have attended the BYG410 Fabrication and Applications Engineering exam.
Course contents
The following guidelines are valid for the basis and scope of the project assignment. The project should aim at having an innovative touch, with clear and sound arguments supporting the selected solution.
Project assignment contents:

Focus on preparation of pWPS, WPQR og WPS in accordance with a suitable standard

Material and material properties important for the welding work ¿ use information from material certificates

Select welding consumables, groove, welding method and optimize the qualification ranges

Welding and material economics
-
Requirements to NDT, mechanical testing and personnel

Quality and HMS management including traceability and documentation

Produce for an object: Welding drawing with numbered welds, welding log with sequence numbering and all other relevant information
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module, the student should be able to

Act as a resource person in welding and welding related material and quality issues

Work as a welding engineer in an industrial project
Examination requirements
Students must have a minimum of 90% attendance at the start-up seminar.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Project report, performed individually or in a group. An individual oral exam. The project report must be passed get entrance to the oral exam. Both project report and oral exam are evaluated as "Passed" or "Not passed". A minimum score of 60% is required to pass.

It is required minimum 20 students registered to start up the course.
