Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module, the student should be able to

  • Detail tasks and responsibilities for the welding coordinator

  • Understand in detail the principles of quality assurance and control, the related standards, and their application to welded fabrication

  • Explain fully the main purposes for WPS/WPQR/pWPS and advantages to quality of welded fabrication

  • Explain in detail the workshop layout principles and facilities for improved productivity, safety and comfort

  • Understand in detail the health and safety hazards associated with welding and fabrication processes

  • Understand in detail the use of NDT in welded fabrication

  • Explain fully and calculate the costs associated with welding

Examination requirements

To get entrance to the written exam, students must have a minimum of 90% attendance during lectures. All interactive exercises for the module must be assessed to a pass.

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

A written, individual exam of two hours' duration. The exam is evaluated as "Passed" or "Not passed". A minimum score of 60% is required to pass.
