Why study at UiA?

Here are six good reasons why you should apply to the University of Agder.

1. High academic standards

UiA has several priority research centres in coastal ecology, eHealth, mathematics, artificial intelligence, nutrition, among others. It has also taken a leading position in Norway in artificial intelligence research and is currently developing the Battery Coast strategy.

In addition, the School of Business and Law at UiA is internationally accredited by the AACSB and is one of only two business schools in Norway.

2. Students recommend UiA

We strive to keep our study programmes relevant and our students qualified for the evolving job market. We want our students to have a good time, feel valued and become part of the community. We spare no effort in organising a festival at the beginning of every academic year, start-up courses and specialised services. And that’s just a fraction of what we do!

This is why our students say they are extremely satisfied with the student activities organised by our 60 student associations and appreciate our open-door policy which promotes access to our friendly lecturers who are always ready to help students.

3. The world at your feet

At UiA, internationalisation is a priority.

We have ensured that you can establish an international network both on campus through our Global Lounge and off campus via our exchange programmes and partnerships with over 200 universities in more than 40 countries.

4. Great facilities

Modern. Easily accessible. Student friendly.

That’s our two campuses in a nutshell!

Campus Kristiansand is modelled on American campuses with short distances between buildings and large green spaces connecting everything. Compact, but open. Large, but easily navigable.

Campus Grimstad is situated in Southern Norway’s Technology Park with close proximity to many businesses which cooperate with UiA.

5. Affordable student housing

Student housing in Kristiansand and Grimstad is considerably more affordable than in other university towns and in the private market.

In addition, distances between the campuses, the city centres and the residences are short, so you will have everything you need at walking or biking distance.

6. Living in Southern Norway

Both Norwegians and foreigners are drawn to the beautiful coastline and long summers that are typical especially to Southern Norway. The small islands, mountains and hills are sought after by hikers, trekkers and campers in summer. High-standard ski resorts and cross-country skiing facilities also make the region very popular in winter.

Kristiansand and Grimstad are safe and comfortable places to be a student.
