Collaboration

Integrating virtual and AUGMENTED reality with WEARable technology into engineering EDUcation

Purpose

The project aims to offer learning tools that incorporate immersive learning technologies to enable digital access to virtual laboratories in higher education institutions. This will involve the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) tools with next generation wearable haptic devices. The proposed combination of low-cost commercial technologies (using open-source software and low-cost wearable devices) will enable kinesthetic learning.

Project description

The project is a collaboration between the University of Agder (Norway, project coordinator), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), Timisoara Polytechnic University (Romania), University of Siena (Italy) and University of Minho (Portugal). The KTU team consists of researchers, educators and engineers from the KTU Department of Software Engineering and the VRLab laboratory.
