Civil and structural engineering

The motivation for this group is to execute research, development and innovation (RD&I) to support the educational programmes within Civil and Structural Engineering at all three levels BSc, MSc and PhD.  Additionally, our motivation extends to fostering networks and aiding the growth of our society, encompassing all actors in the industry. This includes building clients, consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers, as well as public authorities at both governmental and local levels.

Our approach involves collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders and engagement with complementary research and educational institutions.

We have subdivided our RD&I activities into three areas of interest (click the links for further information on each):

  • Engineering Structures
Design and structural safety evaluation of both on- and offshore structures
  • Construction and Building Materials
Building process and material innovations for construction and building purposes
  • Sustainable built environment
Development of urban infrastructure adapted to changes in demography and climate change
