CAIR is an Artificial Intelligence Research Centre. In our search for superintelligence, we attack unsolved problems and push the research frontier. The Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (CAIR) is hosted by the Department of ICT at the University of Agder. CAIR opened 2nd of March 2017 and conducts fundamental artificial intelligence research. At startup the centre has 14 researchers with expertise in the theory, algorithms and philosophy of artificial intelligence. Our mission is to attack unsolved problems and push the research frontier, seeking superintelligence. CAIR aims to provide an attractive environment for cutting-edge research. We think ground breaking results and practical benefits at the same time. Our research shall break down barriers and drive innovation, for the greater good.
Research collaboration
The AI Circle provides an arena for innovation and co-creation with stakeholders in the public and private sector. The invited members of this closed circle get the opportunity to take part in building and leveraging tomorrow’s artificial intelligence.

Generic Hydropower Optimization using Deep Learning
Agder Energi and the University of Agder want computers to learn how to operate the energy production. If they manage that, they will be the first in the world to do so.
Social Health Bots, NFR
Project leader: SINTEF
Computer to give advice on mental health: It will be open 24 hours a day, and will never close down for festivals or take a holiday. The machine will provide sensible and personal advice for young people who contact its chat service. This is the aim of SINTEF and professor Ole-Christoffer Granmo at the University of Agder.
