Are you far from campus?

Are you a distance learner, an online student or a student on an online course? Are you staying far from campus? Or are you an employee working from home?

Then you can have books sent to your local public library. See below how to proceed with ordering in LibrarySearch.

How do I order in Library Search?

  • With the National Borrower's Card, you can borrow books and other material from libraries throughout Norway completely free of charge. The borrower's card also gives you access to the public libraries' online tenants, including BibliotekSøk.

You can get a National Borrower's Card from your public library or you can get a digital National Borrower's Card.

Go to National library card
The service requires you to identify yourself using your ID-Port (MinID, BankID, etc.).

In Library Search, you can find books that are available on the shelves of all university and university college libraries, public libraries and secondary school libraries in Norway. When you search on LibrarySearch, the system looks for a library that has the book available and you select the pick-up library, i.e. your local public library where you want to pick up the book.

NB! You must be registered as a borrower at the public library where you want to pick up the book you order.

Go to Biblioteksøk

How do I order articles and books I cannot find in Library Search?

Books that you cannot find in Library Search.

If you can't find the books and other materials you need in Library Search, you can order them in Oria by logging in with regular Feide and using the Order form at the top of the screen.

You must make an agreement with your local library if they can be a collection library, before we send the books you have ordered. If your local library agrees to act as a pick-up library, enter this in the comments field in the order.

If you do not get an agreement with the local library as a pick-up library, you must write this in the comments field. We will then contact you and find another solution.

Articles in journals.

You cannot find articles in LibrarySearch. You can order copies of articles published in journals that are not available in full text and articles from printed sources in Oria.

  • Make sure you are connected to UiA with eduVPN - then you get access to full text, which is available to UiA.
  • Go to oria.no and log in with Feide,
  • If you want guidance in searching and ordering, see the guidance: Literature search in Oria - an introduction.
  • When ordering, you can write in the comments field that you want a copy sent to your home.
  • Contact us by e-mail: hjelp@uia.no if you need help with ordering.

What time/When will the book arrive?

It may take up to a week before the book or copy arrives, depending on where you live. The public library will contact you when you can pick up the book. Please show identification to receive the document.

How long can I borrow?

The loan period is the same for everyone. 14 days with automatic renewal up to 5 times, unless there is a waiting list.

Go to Borrow, renew and return

How do I return?

You can ask your local library if they can send the book you have borrowed back to us. Many libraries participate in a transport scheme for library books. Otherwise, you must return the book by post.

If you have received a notice, "Change in loan period", by e-mail, it is important that you comply with the due date. The sender is ubagder@uia.no. You will not receive a receipt for the return of the book until the book has been returned to the University Library of Agder.

If you are going to UBA (Universitetsbiblioteket i Agder) around the time the loan needs to be delivered, you can of course deliver directly to us. A reminder fee will not be charged until one week after the due date.

If we have borrowed a book for you from a third library, the book must be sent to UBA, not directly to the owner library. This is the only way we can return your loan.

How do I access the library's digital resources?

You can access the University Library of Agder's digital resources from home if you are logged on to UIA's network with eduVPN.

Go to eduVPN

University and college libraries in Norway are public libraries, so you can be registered as a borrower and get a guest account to use digital resources in the library itself. Please note that not all libraries arrange interlibrary loans from other libraries for anyone other than their own students and staff. Check the terms and conditions at your nearest university library.
