Rural/urban migration, transnational networks, communication, ICT, international companies are strong global forces influenceing cities, villages and regions all over the world. Department of Global Development and Planning offer education in city and regional planning, national and international communication and development.
About the department
Departmental staff at the institute consists of researchers with teaching and research experience in poverty issues, globalization and political economy, state and welfare policies in the global South, rural/urban migration, natural disasters and crisis management, climate and environmental issues, social movements, gender, integration and mobility, urban and regional planning, place development, and participatory processes.
Since its inception, the department has been strongly focused on building international networks. In the development field, we have a broad cooperation with universities and research environments in Africa, Asia, and South America today. The fields of social planning and communications have similar cooperation with European and North American environments.
