The Department of Religion, Philosophy, and History offers study programmes at all levels in the fields of religion, philosophy, and history. Additionally, we provide teaching in the primary education, pre-school education, and practical pedagogical education programmes. We educate professionals for various sectors and industries in society. All our undergraduate programmes include a separate practical training module that gives students the opportunity to apply their skills in the job market.
We conduct research on several fields within the disciplines of history, religious studies, ethics, and philosophy. Over the past 15 years, the department has implemented several large research projects funded by the Norwegian Research Council.
