Mandate for the research committee

1. Function 

The faculty's research committee is the faculty board's advisory body in matters relating to research, artistic and professional development work and communication. The research committee shall contribute to the realization of the University of Agders and the faculty's strategy and areas of focus within the area. The research committee shall also advise the faculty board on the development of the faculty's PhD programme. 

2. Tasks 

The faculty's research committee shall: 

• Give input to strategies and priorities for the faculty's activities within research and artistic development work. 
• Recommend annual priorities and provide input to the faculty board's adoption of the budget/faculty plan for the individual year. 
• Discuss fundamental issues in the allocation of R&D time, as recommended by the department heads. 
• Allocate travel support upon application from employees according to detailed criteria. Travel expenses of up to NOK 30,000 per scientific employee per year can be allocated administratively by the research adviser. 
• Allocate publication support, as well as support for dissemination and publication of artistic research in accordance with current guidelines. 
• Recommend the allocation of strategic funds for the development of project applications in accordance with the faculty plan. Final allocation is made by the dean.  
• Work to strengthen the R&D activity at the faculty and take initiative in other research-related matters according to your own or the faculty board's needs.  
• Contribute to the development of the faculty's PhD programmes 

3. Composition and term of office 

The deputy dean for research and artistic development is the head of the faculty's research committee. The heads of department, program manager for the faculty's PhD program and those responsible for specialization are members. All the faculty's PhD specializations must be represented by a research fellow representative. The faculty board appoints academic staff as representatives from each department.  

The term of office of the faculty's research committee follows the term of office of the faculty board.  

The director of the faculty or the person appointed by the director is the secretary of the research committee, and promotes matters for the research committee. The dean and faculty director can join the committee at their own or the committee's needs.
