Areas of responsibility

I am currently working as a PhD Research Fellow at the Institute of Foreign Languages and Translation, Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogy, at the University of Agder (UiA). I started my PhD at UiA in 2021.

My PhD project entitled Climate Song Lyrics is a cross-disciplinary study of contemporary popular songs dealing with climate change. In this project I aim to study a wide range of songs with explicit and implicit reference to the theme of global warming, including both protest songs and mainstream popular music. I want to find out what characterizes these songs generally and in the specific contexts of different musical genres. I also ask what is the role of song lyrics in environmental activism.

My academic background is in literary studies, religion, philosophy and popular music studies. My PhD is an independently conducted project funded by the University of Agder. I am affiliated among others with the Research Group for Song Lyrics (https://www.uia.no/forskning/humaniora-og-pedagogikk/sanglyrikk), Song Studies Network (https://www.songstudies.org/) and Norwegian Research School for Environmental Humanities (https://www.uis.no/en/research/the-norwegian-researcher-school-in-environmental-humanities-nors-eh).
