  The OECD/INFE international surveys of adult financial literacy (OECD/INFE 2016, 2020) show gender differences in financial literacy in developed countries in Europe. In this study, we examine whether these differences can be explained by gender differences in parental economic socialization using the Dutch 2018 DHS household survey. We investigate whether respondents' recollection of economic socialization when young predict their adult economic behavior and self-assessed financial knowledge. The results from ordinal logit and logistic regressions and for nonlinear equations decompositions reveal gender differences in the recollection of economic socialization and in how socialization practices are related to economic behavior and self-assessed financial knowledge. Men have to a greater degree than women been socialized in terms of having paid work outside the home, while women more often than men report that their parents controlled their spending. Moreover, we find gender differences in how men and women benefitted from the same socialization practices.

  Recognizing that gender differences in financial literacy and financial self-efficacy (FSE) are sources of power imbalance and gender inequality, we seek to expand this field of research. Through, a semi-systematic review, we describe and synthesize the latest research regarding the role of self-efficacy in relation to financial literacy and gender. We give an overview of how FSE is conceptualized and measured, and identify strengths and limitations regarding approaches used in investigating FSE. We identify several issues that should be addressed in future research. First, there are conceptual ambiguities to be solved before a coherent theoretical basis can be reached. Second, the variety of measures of FSE used obstructs generalizability, calling for more validation studies. Third, there is a lack of studies obtaining causal inferences. Finally, few of the reviewed studies focus specifically on gender differences or sources of variation in FSE. These issues should be further investigated.

  Sexual harassment is a societal challenge. Youth, women, students, and health care professionals are some of the groups most at risk for experiencing sexual harassment. In this study, we examine how higher education institutions and practice institutions handle sexual harassment and how students in practical training experience and cope with sexual harassment. A survey and in-depth interviews were conducted among nursing students and social work students at one Norwegian university. Our results indicate that students experience sexual harassment during practice that is an obligatory part of training, that guidance and follow-up are often lacking, and that they experience negative consequences from these incidents. We also identified a range of strategies used to cope with SH, strategies that are not necessarily compatible with a sound development as a health care professional.

  Several studies suggest that consumers match stimuli across sensory modalities, with angular (vs. round) type-faces typically associated with sourness (vs. sweetness). Drawing on findings from the field of crossmodal cor-respondences, this study (N =220) examined potential typeface effects in naturalistic settings and found that exposure to angular (vs. round) typeface increased (decreased) consumers’ preferences for sour (sweet) food but had no impact on their expectations or perceptions of these tastes. Moreover, while typeface did not have a direct effect on food choices, consumers exposed to angular (vs. round) typeface reported a greater relative preference for sour over sweet foods, resulting in sourer (vs. sweeter) food choices. However, the effects of typeface on preferences and food choices were moderated by consumers’ age, and only applied to older (vs. younger) con-sumers, with different taste preferences between older and younger consumers constituting a possible expla-nation for such age-contingent findings. Thus, exposure to angular (vs. round) typeface increased older consumers’ choice likelihood of sourer (vs. sweeter) food alternatives, with this effect being mediated by increased preferences for sour relative to sweet foods. In contrast, younger consumers were consistently more inclined to prefer and choose sweet (vs. sour) food options, regardless of whether they were exposed to angular or round typeface. Taken together, the current research reveals how, why, and when typefaces may be cross-modally linked to consumers’ preferences, purchase patterns, and choice behavior.
