Areas of responsibility

Avoid Masiraha is an academic and a political activist who has worked as a student leader in Zimbabwe. Currently he is working as an adviser in the Department of Global Development Management and Planning at Agder University. He also doubles working to facilitate collaboration between the University of Agder and African Universities and institutions. 

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Development Studies from the Midlands State University in Zimbabwe and an MSc in Global Development Management and Planning from the University of Agder.

He holds an Executive certificate in Project Monitoring and Evaluation from the University of Zimbabwe.

Previously he worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation officer for  the Jesuit Development Office for Zimbabwe and Mozambique focussing on youth capacity building and the welfare of street children. 

He has worked in the water and sanitation sector focusing on rural areas of zimbabwe. He was instrumental in the design and training of enumerators for the national water and sanitation inventory database from 2012 to 2016 which provides data on water and sanitation coverage in rural areas of Zimbabwe.

Academic interests

He did his field research in South Sudan and wrote a thesis on the armed conflict in South Sudan and the impacts on rural food security.
