Areas of responsibility

I have a passion for sports and the science behind peak performance. With my background in cross-country skiing, I have a special fondness for endurance sports, but I've also developed a keen interest in other sports and various aspects of athleticism.

My primary interests include health in elite sports, and how we can support athletes in reaching their full potential while simultaneously looking after their physical and mental well-being. Additionally, I am deeply interested in the role of the coach. I examine how coaches can support their athletes, not just physically, but also mentally and socially. I firmly believe that to be a successful coach, one must understand and respect the whole athlete. This belief is part of the motivation behind my PhD-project:

My PhD-project focuses on enhancing women's performance in sports. The primary goal is to develop, optimize, and evaluate a sustainable education program for coaches of female athletes. This project is driven by a desire to expand opportunities for women to develop, reach their full potential, and remain active over time.

The program we are developing is based on a biopsychosocial approach. This means that we view female athletes from a holistic perspective, incorporating biological, psychological, and social aspects. Our goal is to place female athletes at the center and provide coaches with the tools they need to excel in their role. This is an exciting time for sports research, and this project represents a new wave of initiatives aiming to improve the everyday sporting experience for female athletes. Together, we can drive change and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive sports world.
